How often do you get to say you are safeguarded by fully clad, M16 toting naval soldiers when playing a round of golf? Well, that’s exactly what you get when you play this 18 hole links type course at the Royal Thai Navy Sports Development Centre located right at one of Khao Lak's most beautiful bays. Adding to the atmosphere, the boys in uniform serve light refreshments and set you up for practice in the driving range - quite a surreal experience in itself.
The course is beautifully landscaped with an abundance of ancient jungle and great thought has been put into the placement of holes.

What makes Rajjaprabha really stand out is the profusion of water, care of the dam. The end result, artfully blended into the natural surrounds offers lovely visual contrasts of light and shadow. In a nutshell it has to be played to be believed.

This par 72 course is owned by the Royal Thai Navy and measures 6825 yards from the Medal tees. It was upgraded to 18 holes during the summer of 2000 and only since then has it been opened to the public.

The four par 3s of this course offer perfect distance variances. Not a long hole, but, the 133-yard 8th is lots of fun to play. Depending on the pin placement on this large and undulating green, your score could be an ace or triple bogey!

The ten par 4s also offer a perfect variety of hole design and distances. The emblematic 1st hole has a huge sand trap to the left of the green attracting many golf balls on this hole! The best way to play this green is to land in front and let the ball roll on. The world class beauty of the 394-yard 17th and the bunker-fronted 432-yard 18th are definitely the highlights of this course. The 18th is drivable, but logic must prevail. Best to position the ball in the fairway away from the massive beach bunker, then play a short iron to the shallow green. Both the 17th and 18th holes hug the beach providing a spectacularly unobstructed view of a technicoloured sunset over the Andaman Sea that lull’s the golfer to forget the task at hand. What a way to end a day!

The four par 5s are relatively long and straight with the exception of the 551-yard 5th, with a dogleg left. Ponds on both sides make a fairly straight drive essential. Hit the drive to the dogleg and then a short iron into the large undulating green. Hitting over a finger of the lake to the green, makes the challenge of good fairway shots essential on the 567-yard 16th, flanked by bunkers on both sides. But, if your golf shots fail you, the scenery at this green will make up for it. Touring this course provides a picture postcard setting back-dropped by tropical rainforest covered mountains of Khao Lak and unobstructed views out over the Andaman Sea to loose yourself in.
